As a former elections worker & clerk's office employee, I know where the holes are in our current election laws that leave room for security breaches. I will pen legislation to end permanent absentee voting; to end the mailing of unsolicited absentee ballot applications; to require the last 4 digits of a voter's social security number when registering to vote; to require absentee ballot applications be filled out in person at the clerk's office under the supervision of a clerk's office employee who can verify the voter via photo ID; to make certain aspects of the Qualified Voter File public to allow everyday citizens to be watchdogs over the voter rolls, as well as establish a reporting process to alert the clerk's office when someone who is no longer a resident of that municipality remains on the voter rolls; to end no-reason absentee voting; to make Election Day a state holiday; to mandate that voters who don't provide photo ID cast a provisional ballot; to end ballot "drop boxes" and increase penalties for ballot harvesting; to require clerk's office voter master cards retain a voter's original signature; to end the use of ballot tabulators & electronic poll books that have any internet connectivity; to ban any private or nonprofit organizations from entering data into or accessing sensitive information from the Qualified Voter File.
As a graduate of Hillsdale College, I recognize the supreme blessing it was to receive a classical liberal arts education based on the seminole works of Western Civilization. I also recognize the damage done to young Americans indoctrinated by falsified Leftist "history" like the 1619 Project. I will write legislation implementing the 1776 Curriculum into Michigan's K-12 public schools. I will also write legislation banning Critical Race Theory, as well as pen a version of Florida's "Parental Rights in Education" bill which would prevent teachers from discussing radical sex & gender theory with students. I will also pen legislation mandating students in K-12 public schools use the bathroom & locker room of their biological sex and prohibit them from playing on sports teams of the opposite sex based on "gender identification".
I will write bills banning mask and vaccine mandates for both public and private institutions in the state of Michigan, and I will write legislation making it illegal for any entity in Michigan - neither the governor nor any agency under the executive branch - from creating "mandates" based on "emergency powers" that would in any way restrict our constitutional rights, including the rights to peaceably assemble, to the free exercise of religion, to one's property (including purchasing legal goods and keeping one's business open), and to due process (no punishment, fines, fees, or detainment for violating unconstitutional mandates).
Law enforcement is the cornerstone of a law-abiding, peaceful, thriving community. I am not in favor of "defunding the police," especially not in the wake of violent riots. I am in favor of designating ANTIFA as a terrorist organization, and apportioning law enforcement funds for the investigation and prosecution of this organization in the state of Michigan.
The states with the fastest-growing economies and greatest influx of out-of-state residents are the states without state income tax. I am totally against income tax on principle and would be glad to get rid of it in Michigan. I will write legislation ending state income tax. At the same time, our relatively high (compared to the federal) minimum wage prices workers out of the job market. If we were serious about shrinking the unemployment rate, we would make it easier for businesses to employ people by ending the state minimum wage. This means more people would be employed, and would be able to work more than part-time, leading to greater income overall. And it increases productivity for businesses when they can afford to hire new workers.
California's Proposition 13 from 1978 saved homeowners in California from being priced out of their homes due to inflated property values. Michigan residents, especially those on fixed incomes, suffer egregiously under the burden of property taxes linked to annual assessments. Michiganders deserve to have no property tax increases once they have purchased a home. If the home is sold, the property value will be reassessed, and the new homeowner will pay the new property tax rate. This will allow Michiganders to continue living in their hard-earned, hard-won homes. At the same time, a growing number of Michiganders are looking to homestead. I propose property tax breaks for homesteaders who forego an income to live self-sustained on their property.
Manufacturers, the heart and soul of Michigan's economy, are fleeing to states with lower energy costs. Why are our energy costs so high? A key issue is the state's subsidizing "green energy" sources such as wind farms and solar panel fields. These sources of energy do not provide the power needed to keep our manufacturers in our state. I would not support taxpayer dollars subsidizing the farce of green energy. I would instead offer tax breaks to nuclear, gas, oil, & coal-burning plants, which have significantly higher energy outputs at a lower cost. At the same time, this would make subsidizing major corporations with taxpayer dollars unnecessary. I do not support corporate welfare, which is inherently anti-free market.
Affording private school tuition is a struggle for most families, and parents who wish they could send their children to private schools are often priced out of the market. I intend to fix this by implementing a tax break system for parents who choose to send their children to private schools or to homeschool. I propose a tax break for parents equivalent to the cost per student in a given school district, because the parents have eased the burden on taxpayers who would otherwise have to pay for their child's education.
I am against red flag laws of any kind and will always vote "no" on anything that restricts Michiganders' Second Amendment rights. I will pen constitutional carry legislation, and I will push for "gun-free zone" reform. I believe good guys with guns are the best solution to bad guys with guns, and that a public which is generally armed makes for a safer community with lower crime.
I am uncompromising in my belief that human life begins at conception and ends at natural death. I will introduce legislation banning abortion in the state of Michigan. I will always vote to restrict abortion, and if a heartbeat bill came to a vote, I would vote "yes". I also will never budge on physician-assisted suicide & euthanasia. If legislation ever comes to a vote which would expand or allow these anti-life acts, I will unequivocally vote "no".
I will write legislation classifying surgery and hormone therapy for the purpose of "gender reassignment" for anyone under 18 years of age as child abuse.
Michigan is also the state with the highest human trafficking rate in the United States. I will pen legislation requiring every law enforcement agency undergo human trafficking awareness training, based on the DHS Blue Campaign.
Although every single politician running for office in Michigan complains about how bad our roads are and how desperately they need repairs, nothing ever seems to change. I will conduct an investigation into the money apportioned to MDOT and examine how the money is being spent, and where the waste & corruption is. Then, based on the findings from this investigation, I will propose legislation & funding that will finally fix the damn roads!
